This workshop will provide an introduction to the general philosophy and history of the Open Frameworks C++ programming environment which has been designed similar to the popular Processing environment for the simplified creation of interactive installations and artworks. OF is an open source project led by Zach Lieberman, Theo Watson and Arturo Castro and is also driven by a growing community of artists and designers who are regularly contributing the usable results of their own works back into the general framework.

Day 1 participants are asked to bring image material and experiment with simple bash/python code that we bring along in order to have an easy experimental introduction to generative image manipulation.

Der Organisationsmodus der FLOSS-Produktion, wie er im Begriff Yochai Benklers von der "commons based peer production" zusammengefasst ist, hat sich dem Produktionsmodus proprietätrer Software gegenüber als überlegen erwiesen.

Workshop Description: [img_assist|nid=1050|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=250|height=188] In this workshop, we will construct textile sensors and circuitry from conductive fabrics and thread, with ordinary textile materials such as poppers, fabrics and yarns. Instead of soldering and wiring, we will saw, iron and knit these sensors and circuits. Participants will be introduced to basic electronics and range of fabric sensor examples such as push, bend, tilt and stroke sensors.

Part workshop, part festival, it is organised in Bergen, Norway, and involves participants from more than a dozen countries exchanging ideas, coding, presenting art and software projects, doing workshops, performances and discussions on the aesthetics and politics of free and open source software. Technically and literally a gender changer is a computer part - the image top left of every page of this website represents one. It is an adapter that changes the "sex" of a port. Ports with pins are said to be male, ports with holes are said to be female. In the situation where two pieces of hardware both have the same port, an adapter saves the day and makes a connection possible. We are reclaiming the term to mean a person interested in the gendered aspects of technology.
