Elliot Perkins / Ultra-red

Elliot Perkins (UK) is a member of Ultra-red and long-time antiracist organiser. Based in the rural/coastal south-west England, he is increasingly working around migrant justice struggles with asylum seekers housed by the immigration authority. For some 15 years Elliot has investigated the question "What is the sound of the border?" with comrades from these communities in struggle all over Europe.

Perkins also collaborated with photographer Shahidul Alam, founder of the media activist organisation DRIK. Combining Perkins's sound work with Alam's photography, EURODAC EXPRESS investigating the experience of migrants making their way from Bangladesh to England.


Ultra-red is a sound art collective founded in 1994 by two AIDS activists, Dont Rhine and Marco Larsen, both are involved in ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power). Originally based in Los Angeles, the group expanded over the years with members across North American and Europe, ranging from artists, researchers and organizers from different social movements.
